What you observed is very true! The over-sensitivity of the "touch pad
mouse device", and the touch pad itself.

As a result, I had stopped using my fingers and used a wireless mouse
on one laptop, and a wired mouse on the other.

I think you may have identified my Keyboard Devil as Mm Curie
accidentally
discovered X-ray.

That must be it! Since I am more or less "all thumbs", and my thumbs
do hang over parts of the keypad when I type ...

I'll try MASKING the entire touch pad to block any signals from my
thumbs and see if that makes a difference.
