Kurtosis approximations

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if there is any approximation equation for kurtosis.
To find the kurtosis, we need a fourth-degree equation. Does any one
know of any approximations which can calculate the peakedness of curve
in linear or quadratic degree?

Any related work pointers would be greatly appreciated.
