That would be a very bad rule, if everyone is a serious discussant.
The Linear Models thread, for example.
That was a rare and exceptional thread. For quality, though?
No one knows, but I wonder if it would have been more
interesting and illuminating if a two-per-day rule had existed.
I probably answered more
serious questions from serious questioners more than twice a day
everyday, and that's not counting responding to the noise makers.
Why should there be any limit of that kind? For what purpose?
A fixed limit of two means that a moderator (or a nice
self-moderator) can apply an arbitrary rule without bias
or prejudice. It eliminates a huge share of recent "noise".

Would you gentlemen try it?
To whom are you referring as "gentlemen"? First of all, 100% of
the latest noise was started by one lunatic, Luis A. Afonso, who
never had anything of substance in statistics to post. I was doing
the JOB of a moderator of this group (being a frequent poster in
it) by NOT letting the MUGGER run amuck.
You, Richard Ulrich, are apparently making no distinction between
"mugger" and "muggee" and the "cop who beats up the mugger",
the latter two can coincide.
I can make the distinction easily, since I fill the role
of muggee and cop in my conflicts with Reef Fish Bob.
But I omit defending myself, and delay replies, in deference
to the stated preferences of other posters.
If EVERYONE who detests Luis A. Afonso for his noisy posts
of "mooos" and disruptive subjects TELLS Afonso so, publicly
OR privately, he will not be around to make his noise. That has
proven to work in every group!
It has not worked with complaints to Reef Fish Bob,
concerning his noise about me. I don't expect it to
work with Luis, either, since both he and Bob proclaim
self-righteously about improving the contributions to
the groups. Both of them suffer from serious difficulties
in reading-with-comprehension, so they probably can't
see how similar they are, even with this pointed notice.
