Why do you need Espyrian to verify that trivial program?
Any who had your obsolete QBasic could have verified it, that
it was a quirk of some ANSI standard.
Go to alt.lang.basic to find out the details there. They would be
happy to have you there because it's sooooooo quiet. They need
a buffoon to keep them awake.
What's worth repeating by Espirian is what I had already repeated:
