Re: Simple binomial test question

Jack Tomsky said

*** Afonso has never understood hypothesis testing. When one hypothesis is tested against another, a decision is made on the basis of the sample as to which hypothesis is to be accepted. That's why we have type I and type II errors. Under the Afonso theory of hypothesis testing, the OC curve, which is the probability of accepting the null hypothesis, must always be uniformly zero.

Under the Afonso theory of statistical inference, one is never allowed to make a decision if there is any chance that the decision could be wrong. That's why in hypothesis testing, he refuses to ever accept the null hypothesis or to accept the alternative hypothesis. The Afonso tests have the remarkable properties that the OC curve is uniformly zero and the power function is uniformly zero, thereby qualifying as the uniformly worst tests. This is cachechy evident.

My terponse

Tomsky is ABSOLUTELY STUPID in insisting that I refuse to accept an hypothesis. He never wil understand the difference, I ´ll repeat.
THE SET of intelligent beings (to which Jack Tomsky must be excluded) understands the difference between a tool to decide if an hypothesis should not be rejected under circumstantial condition - data - and judge through arbitrary gauge - the significance level - and certainty.
Probability is the realm of incertitude : all decisions are provisional therefore all * deterministic metaphors * such as
____the coin is fair (heads probability 0.5)
____the two parameters are equal: m1=m2
____and so on

are impressionist statements. They are acceptable only on as professional jargon.

A teacher of mine, José Tiago de Oliveira, said to his students: from random events we never can draw certainty. (* não se pode tirar o certo do aleatório *, date 1990, ipsis verbis).

Professor Tiago, (University of Lisbon) a RESEARCHER ON PTOBABILITY and STATISTICS, is yet dead, which is a real loss: he could not enlighten U.S. teachers and trolls.

What a difference between Tiago and an obscur biologist statistical consumer as Tomsky!!!
