Hi,
Could someone let me know any details of "new measure for class
determination called the DETERMINATION MEASURE " .
I came across this in a journal where a regression plot with a
regression equation and r-sq value of .972 was shown and underneath a
small note:
1) with an equation A ( different to regression Eq)
2) Equation A calculated by " Optimizing the equation by using
DETERMINATION MEASURE "
Any help in this regard is greatly appreciated.
Googling shows 9 hits, that it is something devised by J R Arguello
for data mining with binary attributes. 1998 or earlier.
Google-scholar < Arguello data-mining > has more hits, but few
citations of any of them. It does not seem to be a technique
that is widely used. Your journal should have a specific citation
where someone claims to use it.
"Data-mining" denotes "many variables", so any R^2
from "optimizing" might be read with initial skepticism,
at least until you know what was done.
