Usefull advice from Kevin.
Question is, what is your budget, and what is it you want to achieve.
Live blood analysis? Or will you stain the slides with bacteria?
In the first case, you will need darkfield or phase contrast.

Ebay throws up good deals, but with substantial risks. Dealers offer
guarantee and a good system to start with, even on secondhand stuff.
Check http://www.microscopy-uk.org.uk/full_shop.html for second hand
stuff, in the ex-labo section there's a good PZO scope with
brightfield and phase contrast for £360 or so. It is binocular-- but
not stereo (3D).
