I have been given the instrument described below.
I anyone able to tell me anything about it. Age
Manufacturer's name : Ernst Leitz
Weitzlar
Serial No.: 430313
It has a binocular head. The eyepieces are missing.
4 objective turret with 2 Lettz objectives with markings as follows:
16mm Apo A=0.30 12:1
8mm Apo A=0.65 24:1
These are not the usual markings on an objective. Is anyone able to explain
the?
The condenser is intact and seems a complex one with two irises and a
supplementary lens at the top which can be inserted or removed by rotating a
knob on the side of the condenser.
Why Two irises? The control lever for one moves along a scale, and the
other is controlled by rotating a ring with one cursor marking on it. No
scale though.
Any suggestions, explanations gratefully received
