I have worked years long with an Ortholux-POL, but don't remember of a
formal "users manual". There were catalogs of the parts and accessories.
There was a catalog for the Ortholux-POL.

Leitz published also booklets on the various applications (e.g.
"Polarizations Mikroskopie", "Reflected light metallography", etc.), but
they were not centered on a given microscope model. Several such booklets
were available in German only.

Leitz published also a huge series of separate volumes in 1957, describing
all the gear in great detail, and especially the Ortholux and its
accessories:

Hugo Freund: Handbuch der Mikroskopie in der Technik. Umschau Verlag,
Frankfurt/Main.

If you really want a user-friendly polarization microscopy manual, there
are several petrography courses and textbooks. Clear explanations and
working sheets are provided in: McCrone: The Particle Atlas, Edition TWO.
