Good article and it does point out what I have seen before. Defects in
the optical path do affect image quality with the effect varying with
the type of defect.

If anyone has had an objective cleaned internally, I would be
interested in hearing how the process went, how much it cost and who
you had to the cleaning. With a Leitz objective, Leica comes to mind
as the obvious but likely expensive choice for service.

In the past, I have just passed on any objective that was less than
perfect optically so I have no experience with internal objective
cleaning.
