Look for a thread entitled "Nikon D70 DSLR on microscope: Update" posted in
this group. You will find some comments on what's possible and also a URL
for some examples using brightfield. BTW, you should not use direct metering
of the D70 since it implies that you expose right after your mirror slaps
into place. Use bulb mode and, of course, the D70's histogram to fine-tune
the exposure. Hence you will get no issues due to mirror slap, no vibrations
due to motion of shutter curtain, just crisp and sharp exposures. (Bulb mode
needs an external shutter. For exposures longer than 1/4, you can certainly
use a black piece of plastic between light source and condenser to block the
light. And don't forget the IR remote to kick the D70 into bulb mode (using
manual mode). One more thing, use NEF.
