Actually they are made now in China, India, Taiwan or just about anywere.
In the past they were made by third tier Japanese makers, now to expensive.
You're right, an older Swift (25 yrs.old) is better than they are now. You
can't get parts for any Swift. As long as it works its great.

Decades ago while in college I bought a Miranda camera because it was cheap.
It lasted since I babied it unmercifully, no one but me touched it, and it
lasted pretty well. I never want to go through that again!
