My daughter is a undergrad college student
with an *intense* interest in botany and
microbiology, with the emphasis on botany.
I'd like to reward her interest with a nice
microscope.
She already has access to a low magnification
stereo microscope so I'd like to get her
something that would be good for working
on the cellular level.
First of all, what would be an appropriate
instrument in terms of optics and accessories?
Second, she has some problems with visually
stimulated migraine headaches. I'd like to
find a comfortable instrument that would not
make things worse. Please take this into
consideration.
Third, is there any good kits for slide preparation
and staining for this sort of work.
I have up to about $750 to spend. Any advice
would be grately appreciated.

This stuff is crap. Not the first time I've said it. Thomas is right,
'tho. Americans sell this crap under the Dutch name and every other name.
As I've said before, buy 500 and they'll name it after you.
I picked up a Wild M11 off of ebay for about $300.
She's delighted with it. We fiddled around with
some plant stems and a razor blade and she said it's
vastly better than the $1000 scopes in her biology
lab.
