Gasp! Are resolution test slides so difficult to make that they justify
their astronomical prices!?!? A Richardson test slide is exactly what I
want but at a price I can't (won't) justify for a simple bit of
amateur experimenting.
Does anyone know of a cheaper equivalent? I'd like features down to
100nm, but 200nm will do. Let's say budget is £100 ($200) max.
In anticipation of one obvious class of answers; yes, I know diatoms
are a good tool for subjective tests of resolution but being optically
active they introduce aberrations, particularly when using phase
contrast or DIC. Since I'm seeking quantitative, comparable results I
have rejected diatoms in favour of a proper test slide (maybe wrongly,
but hey, it's my experiment :-)
Cheers

Try Klarman Rulings, they make most stage and eyepiece
micrometers. Richardson has done some weird things in the past and frankly I
don't trust them.
