I am sure you are right. Am pretty sure now that Bob Chiovetti has
correctly identified the device as a coaxial illuminator. Would be very
happy if I can find any other info on the likely model etc.
Bob, my apologies for referring to you as Bill. Not sure how I did
that.
Must admit I am new to the world of microscopy but am disappointed at
the paucity of info available on the web on obsolete models and
accessories for Nikon microscopes. In the case of other types of
equipment I am familiar with, it is not uncommon to be able to often
find manuals etc freely available on the net.
