The Pixera 150ES might work for you. It is un-cooled and is 1.5M
pixels. It has a great user interface and also has an SDK (via NDA)
for custom work. but I'm not sure why you would need it, given the
features of the native interface GUI app.

This camera needs a trinoc photo port and suitable adapter for your
microscope. Unfortunately, the pricing is outside your envelope.
Perhaps you should look at prosumer digicams and deal with this sort
of product.
