I'm very curious about that but couldn't find anything on the european
Fluoview site. Could you post a link?

I heard that. A big loss, when it comes to diversity, if you ask me.

It is :-)
And if you the confocal is "2PM-ready" the whole thing is done in less
than a day.

The sytem may come as one unit, but there is still more than one
manufacturer involved. The Ti:Saf laser will be supplied by a different
manufacturer. Most turnkey systems will rely on a MaiTai from Spectra
Physics or the equivalent Coherent model.
In the end you will most probably require somebody from the microscope
company for maintance work on the scope and somebody from the laser
manufacturer for work on the Ti:Saf.
Of course, with a DIY-system you require somebody in lab who knows his
way around with the system - but in the end that makes things a lot
easier, even with a turnkey system.
Just drop me a line if you have any detailed questions.
