Re: Inverted fluo for cell culture: Olympus, Zeiss or China ?

15k$ for an inverted fluorescence microscope isn't enough when you intent to
buy new with a decent imaging device. The imaging solution with SW alone can
cost you close to $10k. Try second hand markets. Focus on demo models for
which the company still offers support and warranty. I am surprised that
Nikon asked for more than Olympus for a comparable system. I found Nikon to
be cheaper in the US. Especially the high-end Plan Fluor lenses are
"reasonably" priced for the Nikon scopes. Zeiss asks for too much for their
high-end gears. E.g. a Nikon Plan Fluor 40x (NA 0.75) goes for roughly
US$900 while the Zeiss version costs way above 1,500. It's funny, the frame
of the Zeiss is cheaper than the comparable one from Olympus or Nikon.
