Yup. It depends on the vintage of the piece. I recall a change in the
numbering plan some decades back.
The binocular head 4716726 is sitting on my desk attached to a
multiport body 4703273. Both have been used on a Standard 16
as well as on my Photomicroscope II (whose binocular head bears
no numbers at all).
