In a weak moment, I bought a nikon "device" off LabX.
other thanthere is absolutely nothing to identify what it is. No name,
stumped. It isNikon, no number, no identifying marks. labels, etc. I'm
well made. Itobviously some sort of microscope/optical device and very
sticker.was once part of a medical lab according to an old inventory
(possibly aThere is a holder mounted over an inverted objective
circularcondensor?) that projects an image up to a screen with a
greendegrees pattern. Projected onto the circular pattern is a
degree knobcross-like projection that rotates as you rotate a 0-360
small screenbelow the objective. Below the circular pattern is another
focus atthat has a scale from +25 to -25. The green cross is only in
what thisthe 0 position of this scale.
If any of this rings a bell with anyone, please let me know
machinists..?thing is.
Thanks.

Sounds vaguely like an old measurement microscope for
Judging by your description, when I was a kid my dad's variousquality
control magazines were filled with somewhat similar equipment. You'd stick
a part in it and it would cast a big shadow on the screen, andyou could
measure angles, hole sizes, corner radii, etc.
O.:
I think you are talking about an optical comparator.
