You have quite a big problem, that is: how much quality is enough?
With high quality optics, eyepieces go together with the objectives.
Even small differences in chromatic correction (say, between older
Olympus, Zeiss and Leitz eyepieces) show up when looking critically
along the edge of view. Not in rainbow colours, but it just doesn't
look sharp compared to the middle of view. Put in a green filter and it
should be completely sharp.
Is this bad?? Well, most of us do not care much for the edge of view,
the middle 2/3 is generally fine for observation and image taking.
Now, my advice: forget about chinese imports. Get a used labscope from
a reputable dealer OR get a new one from Lomo, that's basic but decent
optics for $500 or so ('Multiscope'). And upgradable.
This is a professional list with mostly discussions on professional
(read: unaffordable) stuff. Continue on the yahoo group.
Best wishes, Rene.
