We are considering the Canon Rebel XT DSLR vs something like the Canon
Powershot A620.
You will need the conversion lens adapter LA-DC58F on the A620 to get
filter threads for mounting. This camera appears suitable for afocal
photography.
The size and position of the entrance pupil of the typical EOS lens does
not make a good match with most eyepieces for afocal photography.
