Yes, CTS is indeed Cooke, Troughton and Sims; I should have spelled it
out
in full; sorry for that. They were a very distinguished firm based in
the
North of England, and were eventually taken over by Vickers.

It's interesting that Kevin guessed that CTS might have been an Indian
manufacturer, as I've heard anecdotally that there was an Indian firm
that
made lenses to fit the CTS stereo microscope (and presumably a 'scope
to
fit them on as well). However, nobody yet has been able to tell me
anything more about this firm. Any info. would be gratefully received!
