But where's your image of the bulb? And its holder, with some dimensions.
The bulb is an 8018 X (with a rim). The 8018 won't work.
(It's just [remotely?] possible that I may have bought one a few years ago
for my metallurgical version of the microscope. And I might know the UK
supplier.)
And if you do go down the transformer route, remember that the nominal
voltage in the UK is higher than yours in the US,
