How does one prepare a microscope for long term storage when the
storage conditions are less than ideal?
We have a number of microscopes that will be stored in an uninsulated
storage unit which will see temperatures below -30C to above 40C with
wide variations of humidity. The storage unit will also be vunerable to
insect and rodent infestation.
Suggestions?
Thanks

Don't store them there. Microscopes are designed to be used. My instructor
said it was easier to fix an instrument that was constantly used than one
that hadn't been used. I've found that to be true.
The only thing I can think of is put a heavy, thick grease everywere, you
can remove it later. Cover it just like a gun with cosmoline. It will look
horrible but it should survive.
