Dear Member of this Group,

I know that Zeiss Objectives should be matched with Zeiss oculars.

There are some uncertainties which remain.

What ocular would best match a Zeiss Apo objective 40x/0.95 , dry
with correction for coverglass, 160 mm tubus length?

Would Nikon oculars made for the S-type scopes be an adequate
match?

I would appreciate any answers.

Gee, the Nikon is probably the worst choice. The idea of the CFI, Chrome
Free, 160mm line was to correct a lot of chromatic problems in the
objective, not the eyepiece. This is a bit different from the way Carl
Zeiss and the rest do it. If you have a Nikon their great, everything else,
not so good.

In general the best Zeiss eyepieces are the Kpl ones, they were well
designed and made. However there is a possiblity the they can seperate from
the outside edge in, be carefull if you see a circular pattern on a Kpl.
Don't buy or use the plastic CPL (Cheap Plastic Lenses) eyepieces, a poor
design the Zeiss works came up with to save money.

Thanks,

Kevin Cunningham
