I recognize almost all of the online dealers that sell used microscopes.
They purchase a lot of microscopes from eBay. They clean, test and lubricate
the microscopes before selling them. They inspect every part so you know you
are getting a good clean microscope if you buy from them.
I purchased an eBay microscope that came in a wooden case. The seller used
Kraft paper for cushioning. If you buy on eBay, stay away from the
consignment sellers that sell for other people. People bring junk to the
consignment shops to sell for them. The consignment shop sells the items
untested and as is. The individual eBay seller is more likely to test and
accurately describe items.

Bob,
Thanks for the advice. How do I know what prices are reasonable so that
I know I'm not getting ripped off?
Are you familiar with a site called Labx? They seem to have a lot of
microscopes for sale/auction.
