My link in the response that I just posted goes only to the Micscape
home page. Scroll down to their "Micscape Article Library", "Automated
Search", and use key word Axiostar--there are several relevant
articles.
Also, don't be too gun-shy of buying used items on ebay; I've done
over 200 microscope transactions, buying and selling, with virtually no
problems (although I did buy my Axiostar new). I, too, like high
quality units--I have several high-end scopes, and dozens of
accessories, that I've acquired on ebay (I'm not a big lover of ebay,
but it's almost the only game in town!); my equipment is, in my
opinion, "pristine". Here's a couple of hints:

Bob,

EBay is far from the only game in town. It is just the easiest.
Everyone that services scopes has a scope or two to sell and if you go
to the Yellow Pages www.yellowpages.com/sp/index.jsp type in microscope
and your zip code and start expanding the search out even in the
Oklahoma wastland I get 13 within a long days drive.
A number or the sellers and many of the buyers on EBay have a
professional microscope business as well are more than glad to sell you
a scope seviced and ready to go with a guarantee. It won't be at EBay
prices but it comes with support. All you have to do is find them and
ask.

If you pay attention to who is buying and what their buying most of
the good parts go to dealers. Old Zeiss dealers in particular have to
turn to an alternative source of supply of microscopes since Zeiss left
them flapping in the breeze when it went dealer direct.
