May I take advantage of your almost infinite scope knowledge?

Having just bought a B&L sz5, this being the first B&L I've ever used, I find it isn't parfocal. When I zoom from the highest mag down to the lowest it begins to lose focus at around 1.5X. I've tried adjusting the eyepieces to no avail. Is there something else simple I can try or could you tell me what the problem is most likely to be?
