Re: Can somebody suggest a stable cooled CCD camera?

Not all UPS are the same. Some of the less expensive UPS put out
dirty power waves. This is sufficient to keep most equipment on line
during a power break, but it may not be enough regulation or flitering
for your application.

The APC SmartUPS, which I have used, is the most expensive but I
believe it delivers well regulated pure sine wave power.and has
specialized circuits to eliminate the notch in the power wave during
switching from line to battery and back. The unit also regulates
voltage changes up or down while the UPS is online. The SmartUPS
comes with a feedback signal which provides the PowerChute softwre
(comes with the SmartUPS) the means to collect and record the voltage
measurments at regular small time.intervals

Good suggestion.
I will add a UPS to my system ASAP, and report the progress.

Thank you!

Are you sure the problem is with the camera; variable noise may suggest
another problem. We had a bit of trouble with some of our cameras, much
the same as the problem you describe. Turns out that most of the
variable noise was due to our power system - a combination of small
current fluctuations and some high-frequency noise. The addition of a
stabilizer to the line (we just use a computer UPS) fixed that, and
removed most of the noise.

We still have noise, but it consistent and much lower then what we had
before.
