Kevin,
May I take advantage of your almost infinite scope knowledge?
Having just bought a B&L sz5, this being the first B&L I've ever used, I
find it isn't parfocal. When I zoom from the highest mag down to the
lowest it begins to lose focus at around 1.5X. I've tried adjusting the
eyepieces to no avail. Is there something else simple I can try or could
you tell me what the problem is most likely to be?
Thanks.
Hmm, are both eyepiece tubes adjustable or is only one adjustable?

Just one has a diopter adjusting ring. Do you get Bausch & Lomb
StereoZoom 5s on which both tubes are adjustable?
I could be missing something of course. There are locking screws to
hold the eyepieces in place so I imagine you could move them in and out a
little and then lock them in place but if anything these would need to be
pushed further in to improve the parfocality. The higher mag 20x
eyepieces are actually a bit better than the 10x or 12.5x.
Thanks for taking the time to answer me.
Sean.
Um, I'm not finished yet...and you're right, focus the 'scope on high power
then zoom down to low. Don't touch the focus, use the tube to correct, the
right by loosening it, the left by using the built in adjustment. Now zoom
it up and correct the focus and zoom it down, see if it is off and correct.
Play with this focus and you should get it right.
Thanks,
Kevin Cunningham
