Re: Zeiss objective lens

I think your advice was good advice Kevin....I added my two cents to
make sure the OP knew not to get their hopes up....good equipment costs
money and they had indicated that the budget would not support new
purchases.

EVERYONE is looking for used equipment and especially good used
objectives.

In addition since I have dealt personally with both Spectra and Martin
I know that their prices are not the lowest...you pay for the support
you get.

For objectives try Spectra Services (www.spectraservices.com) or Martin
Microscopes (www.martinmicrscope.com). Let these folks know what you
want
and that your willing to wait.

...and pay and pay and pay.

Sorry but no one will be selling what you want cheap.

I have to confess, it's real easy to tell a customer "Just buy a (blank)
their cheap at (thousands of dollars)". Yeah, real cheap for me, I don't
pay, the customer does. Now when it's my car or house getting worked on, I
watch those dollars and cents.

The other problem is when you have a Zeiss its like having a Rolls-Royce.
No one askes what you paid for it since its a Zeiss and parts cost. If you
have to ask you can't afford it. None the less its a great 'scope. At the
high end they are the be all and end all.

Hi,

We are looking for used Zeiss optic components, including ICS objective
lens (40x, 63x, and 100x oil) and N.A 1.4 condenser for our current
Zeiss Axioplan 2 scope. Due to the budget limit, we only can afford
for used lens (plan-achromatic). Do you know where I can find the best
deal on line?

Second question -- are Zeiss regular objective lens (40x, 63x, and
100x) for regular tube lenghts 160mm interchangeable with Zeiss ICS
objective lens? Will the resolution be compromised a lot if we use the
regular lens for our ICS Zeiss Axioplan2 scope. Your advice will be
highly appreciated!

Thanks!

Mike

Axioplan is infinity corrected system. 160mm tube length objectives
won't suffice for this system.

I agree with Gary, infinity and 160 are completely different. The best
you
could hope for is a slightly out of focus image, the worst is a broken
slide
and objective.

For objectives try Spectra Services (www.spectraservices.com) or Martin
