That's exactly what it is! The only thing missing is the power unit. I
even know now why the circle is cut into the glass square!
You not only are a historian, you have solved something that depite my
asking a million people, and prowling the 'net about, I was no closer
to an answer than at the start.
No doubt about it at all. My microscope is identical to that shown on
the web page you provided. I am in your debt my friend!
