I wish to purchase and install a reticle in one of my Labophot scopes. But
when I examine the 10x20 CFN oculars, I see no particular spot for a
reticle... all I see, as I look at the underside of the ocular, is approx
1cm of small concentric ridges (looks like threads but they're not
continuous.. they're individual ridges and then approx another cm of smooth
barrel adjacent to the lens. The ridged portion has a slightly smaller
diameter than the smooth portion. If the reticle installs at the interface
of ridged and smooth... it seems that it would be unable to reach that spot.
(Hope that made sense)
So where does a reticle go and how do I secure it? I figured the location
of the reticle would be intuitive... it certainly was on an AO scope I used
to use.
So, when you look from the bottom, you see fine lines on the inner wall
of the tube: thats a screw thread. The lenses etc. are secured by a
thin ring with two notches. One can use these two notches to unscrew
the ring, install the crosshair and close everything again.
Maybe use a tool from hard wood to unscrew instead of a screwdriver. If
you feel unsecure, don't try too much and don't scratch the lenses!
