Prism paint?

My binocular head appears to have a small fungus ring UNDER the black
paint on the back. I was thinking of carefully stripping the paint,
fixing the fungus, then reapplying suitable black paint. Anyone else
attempted such a repair? Anyone know if the black paint is a special
type, and if so what type is used for such an application?
The fungus doesn't really impair the image quality, but it bugs me!
(BTW, I can re-collimate!)
Thnx for any advice -hj
