Question re Olympus Universal Condenser

Dear Group,
I have a question regarding Olympus microscopes and their condensers.
The Olympus BX-series can be equipped with an 8 position universal
condenser U-UCD8. This condenser accepts two top lenses: one is dry
(U-TLD), the other accepts oil (U-TLO). The dry top lens is for apertures
up to 0.9. For apertures larger than 0.9 the top oil lens must be used and
oiled. The useful aperture range for U-TLO however goes from 0.2 to 1.4
according to the Olympus product description.
Even very careful reading regarding the use of the top oil lens does not
answer the question, whether it can optimally be used without oil for aper-
tures up to 0.9. I would appreciate any help with clarification of this issue.
A Zeiss circular states that for their dry and oil condensers the following
is true:
"A 0.9 condenser gives better images without oil than a 1.25 condenser used
in air."
Does this mean that for best results one should always oil the top oil lens on
the Olympus universal condenser?
Thank you for any opinions.
G.R.
