Re: Correction collar not working

NoSpam, Yeah, one thing is quite simple, it can just fall out. I've seen
this about twice. Its not frequent but, hey, it can happen. Sending it to
the dealer really makes some sense so long as they have a repair dept. This
might be under warranty!

Dear Kevin,

Thank you for your suggestion. I should have mentioned and I did not,
that the objective in question is almost new, less than two years old.

Is there any way under normal circumstances of use for the mentioned
pin to break?

Are there any other ways, except metal fatigue for this pin to break
or the up and down motion of the lens group to be impaired?

Thank you

G.R.

Dear Group,

Today I have a question regarding a mechanical-optical malfunction of
a microscope objective made by a major manufacturer.

The objective is a 40x, Plan Apo with correction collar.

Focussing on a slide one obtains a relatively good image, not as good
as one would expect, but acceptably good. What is curious is that ro-
tating the correction collar throughout its range produces no change in
focus.

An explanation on what might be going on?

Thank you
G.R.

If it is resonably old the pin that translates the circular motion of the
ring and to the up and down motion of the lens could be broke. These
have
to be maintained at least every five years. I tend to replace the old
lub
with synthetic.

Thanks,

Kevin Cunningham
