Hi,
Structured illumination microscopy relies on high NA to create an
interference pattern to achieve its effect. For your application
(10X to 20X magnification), it won't work very well. If you need
to eliminate out-of-focus light, then light-*** based microscoy
is better suited for you (for future grant application, I guess).
Good luck with your new lab!

Hello, all. I'm new to this board, and am starting my own lab next.
year. I'm curious about what it would take, in terms of cost, to get a
scope outfitted with structured illumination (like the Zeiss Apotome).
The bulk of my imaging needs are low-mag (10,20X), widefield
epifluorescence. Just wondering if any of you have some advice, or
have tried it out yourself. Thanks, in advance.
