Hi All,
Jeff from metallography.com recommended I check out your group. I'm
looking for a 50x objective for an old Olympus PME metallograph. (Not
the newer PME3). We do not have a manual, and from what I can tell
from the markings on our current objectives, I don't have enough
information to know what to specify.
5X (red), 402165 Olympus Tokyo, Mplan 5, 0.10 Japan
10X (orange), 402079 " " " 10, 0.25 "
20X (yellow), 401931 " " " 20, 0.40 "
40X (green), 403100 " " " 40, 0.63 "
100X (blue), 401313 " " " 100, 0.90 "
I'm not really a microscopy guy (hence my posting), but it seems like
I'm missing the key info - the distance?
Does anyone know what I need to spec out for real, or does anyone have
a copy of a manual they'd be willing to fax/email/sell?
Thanks,
Jon
Jon,
To the best of my knowledge a MPLAN 50X for the PME was not made. As
far as I know, the objectives available were:
Neo 5X
Neo 10X
Neo 40X
MPlan 1.3X working distance of about 126.5 mm
MPlan 2.5X working distance of about 107.5 mm (these two measurements
I'm pulling off my PMG that has the rough focus position for these two
lenses marked on the stage mechanism.)
Info below I'm pulling from the instruction manual for my PMG which
has the same optics as the PME.
Aperture (NA) Working distance
Focal Length
MPlan 5X - Red 0.1
4.59 33.59
Mplan 10X - Orange 0.25 1.06
17.92
MPlan 20X - Yellow 0.4 1.04
10.19
MPlan 40X - Lgt Green 0.63 0.38
5.4
MPlan 100X - Blue 1.25 0.18
2.099
MPlan 100X (Black band for oil immersion, numbers same as above)
LW-40X (I've also seen a LWD-40X, but I don't know if that was made
for the PME, and I don't know what the D stands for in that last
case.)
Al lI know about the Lw-40 is the working distance of 7.7 mm.
Maybe they made a MPlan 50X but I've never seen one....
