I'm afraid this is exactly the sort of toy I keep telling people not
to buy - at any price.
It is rubbish, I regret to say.

Of course it's rubbish and I wouldn't advice anyone to buy it.

But those are also the kind of microscopes I did my first discoveries
with,
some 40 years ago. So they have at least some some sentimental value.
Furthermore, as we are enthousiastic visitors of flea markets, we see
some
microscopes sold there. I was thinking on documenting that.
Unfortunatly,
there was only one usable microscope availlable: a Kyowa stand with a
"real"
Abbe condenser and achromats 4x, 10x, 40x. But that one was sold (for 25
euro) before I could take a picture.
I suppose most microscopes sold at flea markets are those toys, but
nevertheless: I bought my Zetopan in very good condition at a flea
market
to, for the price of a good meal.

Periodically my wife and I go to flea markets and garage sales. Some
times we strike it rich and some times absolutely nothing. On one
hand some times were reminded of all the smart people out there who
buy good stuff and some times were reminded of why there are companies
making junk in China.

Periodically I've done some repair work for amateurs, not often, and
frequently I hear tales of how they got a good microscope. If it
works it works.

By the way, I really like your pictures but not for the microscopes.
I live in Atlanta, Georgia, USA and I've never been to Ghent, its neat
to see real people and places with some microscopes thrown in.

Thanks,
