Just my opinion, but I'd say x35 is just fine. I have
stereomicroscopes which go up to over x100, but I very seldom feel the
need to go above x40. Stereomicroscopes are fun to use and give nice
3d images, however they are 'giant magnifying glasses' for looking
closely at things you can already see, and for a view into the
invisible world of the truly microscopic, a high power transmitted
light microscope will be needed, so hey! why not get both!
