Could you be more specific about the fact that Leica EZ4 are pieces of
crap that don't work? I've looked at about 10 other less-known brands
and for the 1000$ CAD price tag, I'm still more convinced about the
EZ4 than the others....Maybe Leica is not the best in the world but
it's still a well-known company. Why would I pay the same price for a
microscope from a less-known company that doesn't seem to have any
better features?



The Leica EZ4 is a piece of crap. I'd urge you to find a good, used
stereo. One place to look is the Capovani Brothers site (http://www.capovani.com/dp/cat/107/63160/ilist.cfm?LCl=342&menuid=m_2_2_1).
These are very competent microscopes at a good price. The main
advantage is that they work, the cheap Leicas don't. At all.
