Kind of like the "uncola" is actually a subset of cola.
No, there are no cola nuts in 7-up or Sprite or whichever one it is.
"Cola" is the name of a kind of nut; it does not just mean "soft
drink."
You seem to hold a common misconception of what "cola" means.
Cola soft drinks have nothing to do with cola nuts, which were a source of
caffeine, not flavor, in the era before coffee decaffeination provided a
feedstock. Cola nuts are not even used in soft drinks nowadays. The
difference between cola and lemon-lime soft drink flavors is a minor one
of
proportions of the flavor essences. The chief difference in terms of
perception is the caramel color and sugar concentration, which creates
nothing more than an illusion of something differently flavored.
I understand that the predominant flavor in Coca-Cola is citrus, with (I
believe) something like cinnamon added. But I don't think anyone considers
7-Up ("The Uncola") to be a variety of cola.
