Re: What microscope?

I wonder if anyone can recommend a mircoscope for a mature beginner
and where to buy it from. I don't want to spend a lot of money but
would like a more robust one than a child's toy one. I would like to
have a bottom light on it. I am interested in botany, and geology.
Thank you

Buy used. That way you get more for your money. If you're in the UK the Watson range of microscopes are a good buy used. You might find one here:

If you have much more time than money and are handy with tools I have two tired-looking Swift microscopes you can have for nothing. I think there are enough parts to build one good microscope from the two. Let me know if you're interested.

Best wishes,
