It's the gear between the focus knob gear and the one that moves the plate
up&down
Weird (and pretty dumb) that Leitz used a plastic things inside their
instruments.

The reason they use plastic is to absorb vibration. Geez, that gear
is a real problem. There are two paths to take, one is ask all the
microscope repair firms if they have one, I don't, and the other is
look through the hundreds of web sites of gear makers.
