I have an Zeiss Jena Laboval 4 and this is a very good microscope. It
is an ordinary routine microscope and has worked without any problems
for me the last 10 years. The mechanical parts is OK and is it not
plastic as sometimes in Nikon and Olympus scopes.
Mine has a trinocular head and fasecontrast and is equipped with a
mixture of Zeiss Jena and Zeiss West apochromates and I get very good
pictures.
I have seen K Cunninghams comments before. He obviously don like
Labovals. I have a suspicion that he dont knows at least the newer
Labovals. If You check the prices on Laboval 4 on eBaywith a binocular
head and ordinary achromates - they normalu goes for at least 6-700 EURO
and often more depending on how they are outfitted.
If You can get a Laboval 4 in the given price range You will get a
good workhorse.
Scrap is a misnomer for this scope.

that Kevin is right on and very knowledgable.
