Look for a rotatory microtome.
sometimes one can find an old one when a laboratory is modernized.
Most problems can be fixed with grease in the beginning.
More difficult: find a sharp blade without nicks. Stay away from
razorblades. They do have nicks!
if you look at ebay.de you will find actually a sledge-microtome (look
for Mikrotom)
These are second choice. But this one has got 3 blades with it. And
these blades can be re-sharpened by a knife-specialist.
They can be used for wax and plastic-embeddings.
what materials/samples do you want to cut?
For plant material sledge-microtomes may be preferred under some
circumstances.
But they are more difficult to handle!
