Eyepiece/focus issues

Hi,

I posted a note a few weeks back that I was looking to purchase a
stereomicroscope. I ened up buying a used Nikon smz-10 and am having a
little bit of trouble with the focus. In contrast to the cheaper used
Bausch & Lomb 4 stereozoom I had before my eyes have been extra swimmy
using the Nikon so far. My one thought is that perhaps it has to do
with the eyepieces and that I have yet to get the focus right for
those. The Nikon came with wf 10x/20 eyepieces. My eyes are 20/20 so I
began by just setting both the eyepieces to 10x each and then
adjusting the focus with the main knob on the base but so far it is
still less then ideal. I'm not sure whether it might be an issue with
1) the eyepieces themselves; 2) my focusing of the eyepieces; or 3)
the focal distance from the eyepieces (maybe rubber eyecups would
help?). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Most of what I'm
working with is ~2 mm in size or larger so relatively low
magnification is what I'm going for.

Thanks,
Paul
