Anyone who can help me with these: please reply.
Probably for Leitz specialists only.
First the introduction:
I have a Leitz Dialux 20 and an Orthoplan. Dialux uses 160mm objectives,
Orthoplan 170mm.
The condensers of the two are not interchangeable.
On the Dialux I have two ICT objectives, 16x and 25x, for differential
interference contrast (DIC, or ICT as Leitz calls it).
In the Dialux condenser I have the two corresponding Wollaston prisms for
these objectives, works fine.
I wanted higher magnifications and recently bought the 40x and 100x ICT
objectives from the same series (160mm) plus the ICT condenser that appears
to fit the Ortholux.
I downloaded the Leitz manual for the adjustment of ICT objectives, and I
can see from the pics in that manual that my recently acquired 160mm
objectives and condenser are used on a (170mm) Orthoplan. A revolving
nosepiece
So 160mm objectives are used on a 170mm microscope.
These are my questions:
Can filters from a Dialux condenser be used in a Orthoplan condenser (are
they the same size)?
How can 160mm objectives be used on a 170mm microscope? Is this because of
the 1,25 factor of the revolving nosepiece?
The E. Leitz 170mm standard are actually 162 mm. At high powers it
doesn't really matter. The correction was made at the eyepiece.
The real problem is 170mm objectives are really old and 160 are old
but not that old.
