If you have a discrete set of known possibilities, then you can probably
measure it yourself.
If you only have the internal thread specimen (nosepiece), then to
measure from scratch, you measure the minor diameter and (from a foil
print) the thread pitch, and work back to the thread specification.
Where "measure" means apply metrology tools most people don't have, and
"work back" means quite a lot of arcane calculation.
It is easier to measure the external thread (objective).
As I said, it is easier still to rule in/out known possibilities.
Sounds like you have a known RMS thread specimen and tried that?
